American Legion Riders Rally to New London Museum, Honoring History and Community

The American Legion Riders of Post 15 recently embarked on their first official rally, riding to the New London Museum—an hour’s ride from Tyler, TX. This ride wasn’t just about the open road; it was a journey to honor history, strengthen camaraderie, and deepen the Riders’ connection to the East Texas community.

The New London Museum preserves the memory of one of the most devastating tragedies in Texas history—the 1937 New London school explosion. The disaster claimed the lives of nearly 300 students and teachers, forever changing safety regulations and the community itself. By visiting the museum, the Riders paid tribute to those lost while learning more about the resilience and strength of the people of New London.

For the veterans who make up the American Legion Riders, service doesn’t end with their military careers. Their commitment continues through community engagement, remembrance, and supporting local causes. This rally was not only a ride to a historic site but also a way to acknowledge and connect with the greater East Texas community—preserving stories, honoring the past, and demonstrating the American Legion’s mission of service.

This is just the beginning for the American Legion Riders of Post 15. As they continue to organize rides and events, they aim to engage with more historical landmarks, support veteran causes, and strengthen ties with the communities they ride through.

Stay tuned for future rides and opportunities to join us in celebrating history, patriotism, and the road ahead!
