Commander’s Desk
Per the Membership Team Training Guide,
“Membership is the lifeblood of The American Legion”.
Without members, there would be no Veteran Support Services. Without members, there would be no voice on Capitol Hill pushing for Active Duty and Veteran Benefits. In the
halls of the American Legion’s Headquarters, it’s often said “It is not the price you pay to belong, but the price you paid to be eligible to belong.”
So, with membership being the “lifeblood” of the American Legion, membership renewal is a primary goal of every Post Commander. Keeping a Legionnaire in the Post ensures continued operations of the Post, offers a lending hand to a Veteran in need, and strengthens the communities we live in. Active members of the Post are an extension of our family, they are buddies who share laughs, meals and can be counted on to show up when there is a need. September is our target date for 50% renewals of current members. I encourage all of Post 15 members to renew their membership as soon as you can. Timely renewals help us forecast our needs, help keep our Post active, and encourages local Veterans, who are not yet members, to consider joining the many “voices” that support Veteran causes and strengthen community ties.
Our 1 st Vice Commander, Richard “Ricky” Graham, is tasked with leading our Membership Team and you’ll hear from him at the monthly business meetings addressing the benefits of membership. If you have questions regarding continued membership, I encourage you to
contact Richard, or our Adjutant, Angie Vinson, or contact me directly.
There are many ways to renew your membership. If you want to pay your dues using a credit card (accruing those travel points), you can go to www.mylegion.org, set up your account and pay your dues online. You can also mail a check or money order to “American Legion Jordan-Duncan Post 15, P.O. Box 743, Lindale, TX 75771” and our Finance Officer, JD, Woods will scan your check/MO and forward a copy to the Adjutant who will process your renewal. Of course, you’re always welcome to see the Adjutant at any Post meeting or event and pay cash to renew your membership.
Help us to exceed our goal of 50% renewal by the end of September. If you have questions, please call the 1 st Vice, Richard Graham at 430-235-8050, the Adjutant, Angie Vinson at 903-497-4570 and of course you can call me at 592-756-8497.
For God and Country,
